WH Skinner takes delivery of a new large-format hand-platen cutting and creasing machine.

Over the last few years the trend in the point-of-sale display industry has been towards larger and more elaborate designs. Traditionally the limiting factor was the size of cutting and creasing machines available. In the past few years the dimensions of these machines have been increasing but their very high cost meant that only the largest companies were buying them.

In 2007 we decided to purchase a 2.5m hand-platen to increase our capacity and flexibility. There are still only a small number of machines of this size in the UK and already we are feeling the benefits of our latest acquisition.

Since it was commissioned we have processed a very wide range of jobs on this machine and also several different materials. Some of the more unusual were taxi graphics, plastic sheet for furniture and even Astroturf!
