Foamex Cutting
Foamex is a strong, solid material which is often used in the point of sale, graphic arts and sign making industry. It is ideal for use indoors or outside due to its weatherproof properties and is fairly easy to process.
Foamex has a smooth surface which makes it perfect for digital printing direct to the surface. We cut Foamex panels using our Zünd digital cutting machine. Our Zünd cutter automatically registers to your print, for excellent final results.
We may use a drag knife, oscillating knife or even router depending on the cutting path and thickness of the material. We’ll happily discuss this with you before quoting once we know more about the job and requirements.

Foamex Cut to Size
Depending on the thickness, we’ll use one of our digital cutting tables to cut foam board. We may use a drag knife or an oscillating knife. Our Zünd machine automatically registers to your print under the watchful eye of an experienced operator for perfect contour cutting results.
Foamex Cut to Shape
Whether you need to cut a Foamex standee or any other contour line, our large Zünd cutting machine is perfect for cutting your Foamex to shape. Foamex is a rigid material and can take a good level of detail. For thinner Foamex sheets, knife cutting is ideal. For thicker sheets, we may use a router to cut your Foamex to shape.

Foam board is a material commonly used in the sign-making, graphic arts and point of sale industry. It’s lightweight but strong and easily cut with a knife.
When your project is registration-critical, has a complex cutting path, or you have higher volumes to cut, you probably don’t want to cut the job manually.
Our Zünd cutting machine is ideal for cutting foam board quickly and cleanly leaving lovely smooth edges, which look really professional.

Perhaps you work in set design, architecture or a similar industry and would like to design and make some props, mounts, architectural models or other items. Foam Board is the perfect material – it can be digitally cut to a shape of your choosing, even very large shapes are possible. We can register to your print, or if you prefer you can use unprinted board. You can draw the cutting paths using Adobe Illustrator or CAD software. Please contact us for more information.
Cutting File Types We Can Work With:
DXF – a CAD data file format developed by Autodesk for enabling data exchange between AutoCAD and other programs.
CF2 – a CAD file saved in an open format, which may be recognised by multiple hardware devices and software programs.
PDF – a vector drawing of lines, curves or other shapes which we can import into our Kasemake software.

Waste Material & Offcuts
Disposal of offcuts and waste material is usually subject to additional charge. Please discuss with us at time of quoting.
Cutting and Creasing Tools
Our most frequently used Zund tools are listed below, however we also have a Kongsberg cutting table. The list is not exhaustive, please get in touch if you have any other questions.
- Universal Cutting Tool (UCT) – a drag knife for cutting materials up to 5mm thick
- Electric Oscilating Tool (EOT) – a high frequency oscillating tool for soft and medium-density materials
- Electric Oscillating Tool 250 (EOT250) – a powerful tool with high-performance electric drive for processing thicker and harder materials
- Pneumatic Oscillating Tool (POT) – a powerful oscillating tool with extended stroke for cutting tough, dense and thicker materials
- V-Cut Tool (VCT) – a tool with 7 different cutting angles capable of producing complex structural designs from foamcore, honeycomb and other display materials and wall coverings such as acoustic felt
- Creasing Tool Type 1 (CTT1) – a creasing tool suitable for single and double wall cardboard, with a adjustable pressure settings
- Creasing Tool Type 2 (CTT2) – a creasing tool suitable for thinner materials such as carton, folding box board (FBB), polypropylene, transparent plastics
